United Nations Award

Recognized by the UN as a model for a sustainable society

In 2005, Damanhur was recognized by the Global Human Settlements Forum of the United Nations (UN) with the Award for Sustainable Communities. This honor was received in Shen-Zhen, China, by Bisonte Quercia (Antonio Nigro), a Damanhur citizen who was the mayor of Vidracco, Italy at the time. Vidracco is a town near Damanhur that is led by a Damanhurian council.

The Global Settlement Forum award states: We are pleased to inform you that Damanhur has been chosen to receive our 2005 Award for Sustainable Communities.
