Research and Experimentation

Research and experimentation help us to understand life

Method

Researching within the self and beyond

Research at Damanhur is something that is very practical. Ideally, it corresponds to significant personal experiences that catalyze a practical, inner transformation for those involved. Research outside of yourself evokes research within, and the expansion of knowledge is also the expansion of your awareness.
Depending on the specific area of research, the methodologies used may be very different. Falco Tarassaco, the founder of Damanhur, left a wealth of knowledge and interpretations of the universe that is by definition incomplete, so this research requires constant elaboration going forward. The confrontation among different theories and the experimentation of material and energetic aspects, such as inspired dreaming, or perception through the inner senses, are just a few of the fields of research in which specific methods are used.
For example, in the field of extrasensory experiences, every person is a fundamental instrument with individual perceptions, like a unique "antenna" that can pick up frequencies that others would have more difficulty perceiving. At the same time, it's crucial to not make every individual perception an absolute truth. In the Damanhur philosophy, we choose to live with the awareness that we are in close contact with the "quasi reale" of others every day, and we do so with a good dose of humor. Ideally, this helps to keep a perspective about the absolute truths that can seemingly arise with each type of research.
What is important is that every exploration and experiment changes the way we had previously seen something. We test things out and seek new meanings, not to put it all aside but to make it an element of transformation, both internally and externally. So, every citizen of Damanhur is a researcher on his or her own level, in different fields, with the intention of producing results for themselves and for others.
