Many ways to get to know Damanhur and share experiences
Damanhur plays an active role in many international groups
Damanhur is currently a member of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that is consultative member of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. GEN brings the experiences of the major communities of the world together and supports the transformation of traditional rural villages into sustainable ecovillages. Damanhur was also among the founders of Conacreis (National Coordination of Associations and Communities of Ethical Spiritual Research) in 1998. Conacreis gathers and coordinates Italian groups connected to secular and ethical spiritual research. It also organizes training courses about organizations, cultural and social events—and, most of all, raises public awareness about non-religious spiritual and philosophical groups. Damanhur also takes part in the Italian Ecovillage Network (Rive), a network of large and small communities that bring attention to environmental impact, resilience, renewable energy and ecological communication. From the synergy between GEN, Conacreis and Rive, a project was created for the recognition of intentional communities in Italian and European law. It has been submitted to the Italian Parliament and is in the process of being presented at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France for approval as a European law.
