U svibnju 2014. Damanhur formalizira bratimljenje sa senegalskim eko-selom Guédé Chantier, koje je dio programa Senegalske vlade za transformaciju malih ruralnih mjesta u održiva naselja.
Damanhur participates in concrete collaboration projects with groups belonging to different worlds, ones that are united by experiences related to sustainability. One of the objectives of Damanhur is to make the experiences acquired in the community available to others and to exchange best practices with other groups. This is the case of the sister community relationship with the Senegalese Eco-Community Guédé Chantier, which was established in 2014. In Senegal, many traditional villages have undertaken a transformation into ecovillages. Guédé Chantier has about 7,000 inhabitants and is located in the north of the country, and it was the first ecovillage in the Senegal River Valley to work in this direction. The sister community relationship with Damanhur came about in the context of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN), which both communities are members of. Representatives of Guédé Chantier and Damanhur have exchanged visits, participating in the life of each other’s communities, and out of these experiences, a collaborative project related to food preservation came about. At Guédé there are some months of the year with a surplus of vegetables and tomatoes, while in other months, they have malnutrition problems. In the spring of 2016, Damanhurian experts in natural food preservation traveled to Senegal in order to teach different preservation methods for vegetables and tomatoes. The seminar was organized by Guédé Chantier, although through word-of-mouth diffusion of the event, people from five villages participated. As a follow-up of the initiative, the participants of the seminar would like to create a specific organization. The next steps of the sister community exchange will be between the schools, in the field of renewable energy and agriculture.
