Sustainability Conference in Sweden, July 17 - 19
Macaco participated in the first International Sustainability Conference held in Mundekulla, Sweden, with over 130 participants from all over the world, including representatives from the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, Christiania in Copenhagen, and Solborg – Camphill in Norway. The conference included sessions on the Native American Way and Community Life in Africa. Macaco presented the Music of the Plants, and gave a presentation on Damanhur, much to the fascination and interest of those present. Macaco recounts a particularly poignant moment during the conference when Manitonquat (Medicine Story), a Wampanoag Native American storyteller and medicine man spoke eloquently to the participants about the importance of simple community life and living in harmony with nature, inspiring all those who were present. Manitonquat visited Damanhur two years ago, and he organizes circles, small groups and tribes for experimenting with the criteria of sustainable living. He also celebrated his 80th birthday at the conference. |
