The World Summit on Birth invites everyone who believes that by changing the way we give birth, we can change our way of life. Through the Summit, we shall recognize and elevate the sacredness of Birth, hearing and integrating childbirth experiences from different cultural perspectives. We celebrate Birth for the rebirth of humanity.
Giving birth is a living act of excellence. Its mystery brings us to experiment, research, and dive into a boundless ocean of discovery. People all over the world are supporting women and childbirth in this spirit of exploration, which at the Summit, shall bring us to encounter ancient and modern wisdom from diverse cultures. By recognizing and understanding birth cultures, we shall support the crux of humanity's rebirth into a new way of being.
Conception, pregnancy and childbirth, with respect, are the right of every newborn, a real investment in the future.

Damanhur has activated a What's Your Tree community, with the first group participating in What's Your Tree 101 from November to December 2009. What's Your Tree is an initiative founded by Julia Butterfly Hill and the Engage Network. The Damanhur What's Your Tree group was comprised of both Damanhurians and international participants from Australia, the US and Colombia. This seven week journey of discovery brought the group members to explore their experiences, talents, and uniqueness, defining one's life mission and how to practically enact this mission in a spirit of connection and community.
During the holiday season in December 2009, Julia proposed to all those involved with What's Your Tree worldwide to participate in a Gift-Giving Challenge. This challenge involved offering three gifts: on a personal level by giving money to someone in need, on a community level with volunteer service, and on a world level with a day of minimum environmental impact. Julia invited all those participating to write their experience of the Gift-Giving Challenge, as she was to choose one story to honor with a donation of the author's choosing. Julia chose Giada - the Damanhur group leader for What's Your Tree - and her story, and Giada chose that the donation of US$300 shall go to support the Temple of Peoples.

After the last public evening talk given by Falco for 2009, many guests, both Italian and international, went to the Temples of Humankind to participate in Midnight Action. Damanhurian musicians playing didgeridoo, flute and drums created a festive atmosphere in the Labyrinth as people painted murals together. Shortly before midnight, the work came to a close and all gathered together in the Hall of Earth for the Ritual of the Cornucopia, welcoming in the New Year with graceful celebration and a sense of togetherness and community. |
The Ritual of the Winter Solstice was held at Damjl, with over 130 guests present from Italy and various parts of the world: France, England, Germany, Austria, Norway, Croatia, Canada, America and Japan. The day was sunny and clear, though quite cold, with temperatures reaching -11 degrees Centigrade (12 degrees Fahrenheit). The ritual was held at the main circle for rituals at Milte, with snow cover on the ground and the small lake nearby completely frozen. |
