Damanhur has participated in the 10th anniversary Earth Charter event on June 29, 2010 at the Peace Palace in the Hague, Netherlands, represented by Macaco Tamerice and Formica Coriandolo. This event celebrated the 10 years since the Earth Charter's founding, with the intention to create a vision for its future. The event aimed to encourage businesses and youth to be inspired by the Earth Charter when seeking solutions for the issues of today and the future.
Damanhur presented the research of Music of the Plants conducted over the years, with the intention of giving voice to the intelligence of plants and becoming more sensitive to plant world, in harmony with the principles of the Earth Charter.
The central theme of the event was "Dialog, Collaboration and Action for a Sustainable Future." The anniversary meeting provided space for interaction amongst the participants from different generations, specializations and areas of the world. Focal themes for the event were "Innovation of International Cooperation by Making Use of New Media," and "Enhancing Corporate Social Responsibility." The cross-cutting themes for the event were "Diversity," "Intergenerational Cooperation," and "Global Governance - the UN and Climate Change."
The mission of the Earth Charter Initiative is to promote the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.
