THE DAILY, MONTHLY, ANNUAL RITUAL
RHYTHM IN DAMANHUR

The daily rhythm of the spiritual life of Damanhur begins by the ringing of a ritual bell to greet the day at 7.45.

At 8.15 Damanhurians meet for a moment of common meditation and prayer to address the day and their work. Before meals, another ritual moment of prayer is observed to prepare the food in the appropriate way.

Work itself is considered as prayer and as a devotional act for the good of all. At sunset three rings of the bell signal a moment of meditation for all those present on the territory, to send positive thoughts to all peoples of the world.

Every evening there are different courses and study groups for those who wish to do research and study Damanhurian philosophy.
At 23.00 hours the bell is rung to wish everyone a good night, because sleep and dreams are considered a valuable part of life.

Every week there are ritual moments to contact and thank the Divine Forces; they are open to all who wish to participate. Each month has a specific prayer devoted to it, and every full moon the Rite of the Oracle of Damanhur takes place.

The Damanhurian calendar observes anniversaries and common moments of celebration; for example, days devoted to the nature elements, and the offering of work undertaken during the month.

Every year there are the celebrations of the Solstices and the Equinoxes and the Commemoration of the Dead. The beginning of every new Damanhurian year is celebrated on the 1st  September and the Spiritual Birthday of Damanhur is celebrated on 29th May.

Each important stage in the life of every individual is accompanied by rituals: the birth of children, their growth, birthdays, marriage and death all have their own particular celebrations and procedures.
